So you are all ready for the Colombian adventure, probably bought the tickets and go that travel insurance. You already know about the vaccination requirements and RT-PCR tests.
You check the Airline websites over and over. No one wants to be denied boarding, right?
That was what I and my Colombian wife were like when we planned to fly to Colombia a month ago. And barely 3 days before our travel, we came across something we had totally missed: Check Mig Colombia Form.
So you got your Colombia tourist visa, and you are planning your next trip to this beautiful country. Maybe you are planning to go and work in Colombia. It doesn’t matter.
And trust me when we say this, they actually chew out Colombians at immigration who forget to fill in the Check Mig Colombia. If you are a foreigner, you can be sure as hell that they will do much more than just chew you out.

The purpose of this article is to make sure that anyone traveling to Colombia knows what the Colombia Check-MIG is all about and how to get it without spending a penny.
So now that we know your journey to Colombia comes with the Chek Mig, let’s see why in the world, would you need this.

What Is Check Mig Colombia Exactly?
Since the Covid-19 outbreak, lots of countries have come up with ways to fasten immigration and make sure that international arrivals fulfill all the health requirements to enter the country.
For example, India has the Air Suvidha Form. Qatar has Ehteraz Pre Approval. We did both of them as well, in case you are interested to know.
Similarly, Colombia has Check Mig, which in Spanish is referred to as formulario check mig Colombia.
The Colombia Check-MIG form is nothing but a travel authorization document for international travelers.
Here is the Check Mig Colombia official website: https://apps.migracioncolombia.gov.co/pre-registro/public/preregistro.jsf
It is a mandatory form that can be asked by the Airline before boarding and at immigration when entering the country. In our case, we were asked for it at both places.
Does Everyone Need to Fill in Check Mig Colombia?
Yes, everyone needs to do it.
It doesn’t matter whether you have the Covid-19 vaccine or RT-PCR test, whether you are a citizen or resident or whether you are a distant relative of Shakira. You have to complete the Colombia check Mig Form.
When to Apply Colombia CheckMig?
You need to fill out the Check Mig Colombia Form within 72 hours of boarding your flight. The latest you need the Check-MIG is 1 hour before your flight.
What are the Requirements for Colombia Check Mig?
The Check Mig Colombia Form requirements are pretty straightforward.
Unlike some other health declaration forms such as Air Suvidha for India or Ehteraz registration, you don’t need to upload any documents while filling in the Check Mig form.
You would need to have the following documents handy and submit the info from them.
- A valid passport
- Flight ticket
- Accommodation details
- A Colombia Visa if you have it
- Passport details for minor children if they travel with you
Do you need to do Check-Mig to leave Colombia?
No, speaking from first-hand experience, there is no need to submit the Check Mig Form when leaving Colombia. You only need to do it in order to enter Colombia.
We know that the form has the option to fill it out when you leave Colombia, but in practice, it is not followed. However, it is probably not a bad idea to do it in case you got time and in case they ask for it.
How to Complete Check Mig Colombia Form in 5 Steps?

- Are you registered with BIOMIG service?

After choosing your answers, click on Continuar.

After that, click on Continuar.

Step 5: Submit the form.
Finally, you would fill in the captcha and agree to the terms and conditions, and click on GUARDAR Y ENVIAR PREREGISTRO.

After this, you would be able to download the pre-registration report or Check Mig Colombia PDF for entering Colombia, referred to as Confirmación de Pre-Registro Migratorio in Spanish.
It would be a PDF that you can save on your phone or take a printout.
If you have not received an email within an hour, you can consult the Migración Colombia through a contact form. You can do the same in any error or if you notice Check Mig Colombia not working for some reason.

Thankyou very much…..
Your comments are intelligent, well reasoned and communicate clearly. I say this with some authority, for the recent inarticulate drivel I had read about Check Mig recently is astronomical!
Muchas Gracias!
Your comments are a breathe of fresh air!
Thank you Gregory. Your comments mean a lot.
When I go to save at the end it keeps asking me to acknowledge the terms and conditions. I can not for the life of me find how to do this!!
Hi Alicia,
You are not seeing a screen like the one in Step 5? Are you trying teh Spanish version?
Hello
Thank you for all this information.
I’m going to Colombia tomorrow. I filled in the check mig bur didn’t receive an email. I was born in Colombia, living in the Netherlands and i have two passports. So now no mail and i can’t fill in the form again. What to do?
Hi Cecilia,
You can download it from https://apps.migracioncolombia.gov.co/pre-registro/public/consultarpreregistro.jsf
Hi Deb
Many thanks for this … all was going well until I completed the ‘where are you staying? section. Now when I clicked on ‘continuar’ nothing happens – have tried several times. Help!! I need to finish it this evening 🙁
Dianne
Hi Dianne,
Have you tried filling it in a different browser or in incognito mode? If not, give it a try in Spanish.
Hi Gregory Thanks for above very useful but tried to do a dummy run as we are traveling by cruise liner with limited wifi got to first step but not showing anything in Control Migrator so not able to move on
i tried a fue days ago to set myself up put all my details in but on the country dropdowns did not show UK OR Great Briton or English did not even show USA we have to fill out on 18th for our visit on 21st
is this due to tthe fact i am too early
Hi David,
Yes, you can fill it out only on or after the 18th, and please check for Reino Unido(UK) or Estados Unidos(USA).
Cannot get past the question for where u are staying in Columbia we are a transit flight to Quito, Ecuador for a Galapagos cruise with celebrity. We cannot continue onto the nextvpage
Hi Joe,
I did not get your situation correctly. If you need to provide some kind of address, you could book a hostel or hotel, and provide the address and cancel it later or a friend’s address.
This is excellent information. It saved me $100. Thank you.
Awesome!! Glad to know.
I am already waiting 16 hours for my Check Mig document, i have the confirmation that PreRegister was done successfully, but nothing arrives. This goes on my nerves…
Hi thanks so much for the article. I filled out the check mig form and quickly received the confirmation of preregistration. Is that all that I need or is that simply saying that they received my application and there is something more to come? So confusing!
Hi Amy,
yes, that is all you need.
Hi deb.
I received my confirmation of preregistration email in one minute. You say above , that’s all I need
Frequent Q.# 2 says confirmation can take tween 24-72 hours .so could the wait time be 1 minute to 72 hours
I’m at the rumichaca border .i put dec. 25 as my entry day. now that I have confirmation I could cross the border sooner?
Also I don’t believe I can use contact or download ,they require a flight #
Thanks doug
Hi Doug,
You should be able to download the pre-registration report on https://apps.migracioncolombia.gov.co/pre-registro/public/preregistro.jsf by providing your details. That is all you need.
The email could work at airports but the PDF is foolproof.
But it requires a flight number . I’m walking.
Am I missing something.
Ah, you could select Terrestre or Land. You can refer to the screenshot on step 1. Then you won’t need to provide flight info.
Hi deb
I’m not very computer experienced. When I open the link and tap on the orange icon , i am unable to complete the flight number space and unable to download. Is there any other way to get the PDF ?
Thanks doug
Hi Doug,
Unfortunately, I don’t think there is any other way to download it.
I believe the email that you have received will work out. You can take a print out of the same and explain them that you were not able to download it.
Thank you.
But after I fill out the page with yes/no questions (i checked no to all of them except are you vaccinated, which was y) there is not a continue button.
I am stuck here, unable to advance to the next page. Help!
Hi Donna,
The continuar/continue button should be there. Make sure that you have not clicked on translate to English or any other option. If not, you would need to start from the beginning.
The United States is not listed under the country of origin .
Yes, it is. Please try to find Estados Unidos.
Hi do we have to complete another Check Mig if we decide to extend our stay or stay longer than 30 days?
Thanks so much for the information.
Hi Caroline,
No, you don’t need to.
I notice it’s asks for your address in Colombia which clearly means hotel but it seems you can only input 1 option.
If i want to go to 3 different regions in 4 weeks which means at least 3 hotels, Do i just select the hotel i stay at longest? For instance if i use Bogota as a base point but i go to Nuqui for a week and Leticia for a few days.
I can’t think of any logical other way to input this.
Hi Therese,
You need to put the address of the first hotel where you will be staying. So it will be Bogota.
Thank you so much for taking the time for this simple step by step explanation on filling out the Check-Mig form. We did choose to use English, and we got to the last step, and stalled because we could not locate the box with the “check”mark to submit. Our flight was within hours of departure and realizing this form was a non negotiable requirement, we even made copies of every page we filled out, drove 40 miles to the airport, and presented them to the airlines check-in clerk, who refused to accept them. Now, we were in a real panic. Back home 40 miles to the computer, with time running out, and after several calls, we FINALLY got some Customer Service help and together we discovered the “check” mark to submit was located all by itself on the very far left side of the page, and barely visible because of it’s tiny size, NOT below the Capcha box. With one click, we got our email confirmation and just made the flight. Hope this helps anyone who has had the same problem. Thanks again.
Wow!! Glad to know everything worked out in the end John.
Hi thank you very much spending time to prepare this detailed instruction. I will make my international transfer in Bogota to Rio de Jenario. I will arrive on Delta and Fly out on Avianca 3 hours after arrival. 2 separate airlines tickets. My questions are:
1. What do I fill in for an address in Bogota since I only there for 3 hrs for my other international flight.
2. Since 2 separate airlines tickets; I need to process through passport control, customs and security upon my entry and exit of the country. What about if I am not able to make my transfer after I submitted my exit Check-MiG, will that create a problem when I exit the country again the next day? Do I need to submit a new form on my departure again?
My trip is coming up in a week and I appreciate your comments. Thank you.
Hi Pat,
I don’t think you need to do this since you are simply transiting and not entering Colombia.
As long as you don’t pass through immigration, you would not need this even if you are flying with 2 different airlines. There is an area for transfer and you should be able to take your next flight without going through immigration. And 3 hours are probably not enough to do this anyways.
If you have any luggage to transfer from one airline to the other, see if you can do it without going through immigration. In most international airports, there is a way to do it.
In any case, to be on the safer side, you could fill out one form and have it with you. You don’t need it for departure.
All the best,
Deb
Is the Check-Mig confirmation of pre-registration all that is needed to take with me from the UK to Colombia. This is all I have!? I’m only transitting through Bogota Airport, Colombia, not actually staying there, I’m on my way to Lima in Peru. But I believe I still need a Check-Mig!?
I’d be very grateful of your advice many thanks Julia.
Hi Julia,
You should not need a Check-Mig if you are only transiting. Check-Mig is needed at the immigration, not before that.
However, you could try and fill one in just in case, to be on the safer side.
Hello,
I am an Indian Citizen and have Green Card. I hope I don’t need a visa to travel to Bogota Colombia.
I’m only transiting through Bogota Airport, Colombia, for 3 days. In the visa section, I entered Green Card details and issue type USA not displaying in the drop-down box, so I updated not applicable. Is it right? Please let me know if I need any additional information to fill Check-Mig.
Appreciate all your help!
Thanks in advance. Rahul
Hi Rahul,
Yes, you won’t need a visa. And yes, you can leave it as not applicable.
So do we select yes or no for Visa? And trip reason should be Tourism..
If I select Yes for Visa, for Visa type option is ‘V’ and if I select no for Visa the Visa type is ‘PT’. Hence so confused what to select. Same thing Indian Citizen with green card.
You should select No for Visa as you will be entering with the Green Card.
I made a mistake in writing my name; putting my first name again in the second family name and submitted it already and got confirmation mail. How can I fix it out?
Hi Seolae,
You could try to get a new one.
Hello Deb, our flight to Colombia is on 10/21/22 @ 5 :20pm. I have tried several times to complete the immigration form on line but system rejects it. As I understand that I can fill out within 72 hrs . No luck thus far. I will appreciate your suggestions. Thanks. David
Hi David,
Yes, you can fill it out within 72 hours. Keep on trying with the Spanish version and with different browsers.
Is it rejected because of some kind of error on the website?
I am a Junior and my passport says “SMITH JR” under surname, but I see no field to provide the suffix. Would I include it with my last name e.g. “Smith Jr” or just use Smith when completing the form?
Hey Jay.
Yes, you can simply write your last name as Smith Jr. That should be fine.
Am I okay to omit the Jr entirely and just use Smith?
Think it is better to use Smith Jr. In Colombia, a lot of people have 2 last names and 2 first names, and that is how they would do it.
Hi Deb,
I filled up all the information in Spanish version but getting a message when I submit.
“It is not possible to send the pre-Registration. You already have a record with the same travel data. Verify the information’
Please advise.
Hi Sameer,
Have you filled it out already? That is the only possibility I can think of.
If not, simply try with another browser or from another system.
Please update how it works out. Will be useful for others.
Greetings Deb
Thanks for all the useful information.
I have a question before I begin completing the form.
On my passport, it shows my first and middle name in the ‘Given names’ section.
When including my name on the form, do I enter my first and middle name, or just my first name?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Faye,
You can provide your first name and middle name in the name field for the form.
Cheers,
Deb
Thank you Deb!!!
Unfortunately, I just realized that i’ve made a mistake on my form. What action of correction would you recommend? Thanks in advance
Hey Faye, Have you tried resubmitting it? The problem is that if you have already submitted it, it would not allow you I believe. If it doesn’t work, then simply carry it with you and explain to them if they ask you about the mistake. In my experience, they can cut you some slack depending on the day.
Thanks for responding Deb. No, I haven’t tried resubmitting. I figured that it wouldn’t let me since the passport number is already tied to the first application. I’ve already received the confirmation. Do you recommend that I try to submit a second time with the corrected information. Thanks in advance
Don’t think resubmitting will work Faye. You can try in any case.
If it doesn’t work, you can go with the Checkmig that you have.
Hi, thanks for all theses informations! Very useful
Does it cost something to fill these form ? I read 30$ somewhere but I’m not sure if it’s correct.
Thank you
Eva
Hi Eva,
No, the form is free.
Thank you! The date trip is when I start the last leg of my trip enroute to Colombia? For instance if I am scheduled to arrive in Colombia the next morning at 2am, from a flight the evening before, what would be the date of travel? When I depart or when I am set to arrive?
Hi Daniel,
It would be when you depart, ideally.
URGENT! FLYING IN 1 DAY. Hey, i did not get an email? Is the downloaded pdf enough?that was provided though the website upon completion? Also the info seems to be like yours in the post. . Is it suppose to be missing some details? Or it is just like that? Can anyone clarify?
The downloaded PDF is enough. Hope you already made it.
Thank you. Without this I would not been able to complete this form correctly.
🙂
Did your Colombian wife fill out the form with her US or Colombian passport info. I know I have to have my Colombian passport to enter the country but I also have to buy my plane ticket with my name in the US because I need the US passport to leave the country. I had issues last year because I had a different name on my plane ticket and it was not matching the Colombian passport info when I filled out the form. I can’t remember now what I’m supposed to fill that out with 😞
My wife only has a Colombian passport. 🙂
In any case, I believe you have to enter with a Colombian passport if you have one. So your name should be the same in both places.
hi! why do i have to pay 89 canadian dollars to fill check mig colombia, I went in april to colombia and i didnt pay , I forgot to do it and i did it at the airport and got charged.
Hi Clara,
How long did you stay in Colombia? Was it more than 3 months? Then that probably was the exit fee.
Check Mig is free.
Hello, when I try to fill out the form it will not let select the date of when I enter. Do I need to wait exactly 72 hours? The furthest out it lets me choose is the 4 but my flight is the 9th
Hey MD,
No, you can not fill it out if you are flying 3 days after the time when you are filling out the form. For example, if you are flying on the 9th, you can try to fill it put on the 6th.
Cheers,
Deb
Dec 8: The final questions have changed.
The order is different than your screen shot and
after covid vax/fever questions, there are questions about monkey pox/rashes.
Hi there,
thank you for taking the time to post this very helpful information, I sure could have used this a couple of years ago when I missed my flight because the attendant told that I have to have this form done 2 hours before my flight and I ended up having to take another flight and fight with the airline and Expidia to try to get my money back- I ended up having my credit card assist with this, otherwise I would have been out 4K because ia was traveling with my son.
May question today is about a fee the I was charged when doing the Check-mig for my mother a month ago, at some point in the application I asked to pay $90 US to process the application, there were other people at the airport who had the same experience- is this legit? I did receive a confirmation which I then showed the attendant and my mother got on the plane, but a fee for this process? US in Canada?
Hi Pilar,
Sorry to hear about your experience. Sometimes the Airline staff can be too difficult.
Did you have to pay the fees when doing the Check Mig? Do you by any chance have a receipt or screenshot of the payment that you can email to thevisaproject@gmail.com?
This is totally free, so I find it strange. A screenshot would help a lot.
Hi Deb, my flight schedule is Los Angeles to Bogota (arrival @ 6am ), Bogota to Medellin ( departure @ 10am).
which city should I enter for Immigration checkpoint/city of entry to country on the entrance form?
Much Appreciated 🙂
Hi Lauren,
It should be Bogota.
Question: if a cruise passenger (US citizen) goes to Colombia by cruise ship can he get the necessary entry stamp upon arrival in Cartagena or other Colombian port so that he can stay up to the three month limit and/or renew his visa for another three months before return to the US or another country?
The cruise agencies are vague; some say you can disembark; others say not. Some say you must buy the nonrefundable ticket before they can answer the question. This is a visit to a Colombian friend that is not just for pleasure and fun but important, humanitarian-wise. Flying is out of the question, at least upon arriving there.
A return ticket, Chekc Mig Colombia and US passport would all be in his possession. Why is it so hard to get an answer to this question from travel agencies and US and Colombian embassies? Thank you for your help and knowledge if available. (Would it be better to get a tourist visa to Colombia before leaving the US?)
Hi Dale,
The first thing that you need to confirm is whether the cruise has a stop in Cartagena or any other port in Colombia or not. Then the next thing you have to confirm with them is whether he will be allowed to end his journey there and leave the cruise permanently. Some of them would not agree with that. Finally, the process of visa stamping. Whether there is an immigration post that can stamp his passport when he embarks? The cruise company can answer this as well. This is the most important part.
A non-refundable ticket is not needed. He can rent one as well : https://thevisaproject.com/blog/tips/10-ways-for-onward-travel-proof/
As a US citizen, he does not need a visa for tourism. So applying for that is out of question.
Please update us on how it goes. Would help everyone else.
Cheers,
Deb
Hi. I’m leaving for Colombia in less than two days but got stuck on Check-mig. Under “department”, for the address I’ll be staying at, I chose “Bolívar. The next field is required, for “city”, but none are in the menu. It only says “select”, and I can’t click “next”. What to do?
Hi,
In that case, simply choose the department of the airport where you will land, and then put the whole address in the body.
Thank you! I’m so thankful I found your article. I tried numerous times, and kept getting “It is not possible to send the Pre-Registration, you already have a record with the same travel data, verify the information”. I just thought it was weird because the form never went through. Plus, I never got an email confirmation. I was frustrated, stressed and getting nervous because I leave within 24 hours. Then, I found your article, and just like you advised, I used the Spanish form. The questions were different from the ones you have in Step 3: Provide Details of Health Issues, though. But since I did the English form so many times, I already knew them by heart! The Spanish form had only one little glitch, but after it was fixed, it just breezed through. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Again, thank you for this very helpful article.
Glad to help Jasmine. Have a great trip.
Hi
I am flying to Colombia from uk for a 2 month holiday, I do not have access to a printer, can I use my cell phone to show immigration or airline
Sure.
Hi Deb
I forgot to save the PDF , SHOULD I RE DO THE PROCESS
Hi Tam,
You can still download the pre-registration report on https://apps.migracioncolombia.gov.co/pre-registro/public/preregistro.jsf by providing your details.
to download the report what do you use for the department type
You need to provide the passport number and choose passport from the dropdown, and the date of travel.
hi there, im confused about the time line. some places i see i can fill check mig out 72 hours before my departure and other places say no more than 24 hours before my arrival or no more than 24 hours before my departure. this doesn’t make sense to me if it can take up to 72 hours to process and i have to have my proof of conformation before i get on the plane??
Hi Gerald,
Yes, it is 72 hours before departure. The form itself would not allow you to do it before that. And when you provide your details you can see the date range which allows you to fill in before you do the final submission.
hi Deb,
thanks for the reply, last night i tried to fill the form out and the site kept freezing and my session kept timing out(page not responding in time), then after 2 or 3 tries of getting half way through i finally got to the end and submitted it. unfortunately it’s saying i’ve already got one submitted with that flight information. my failed attempt must on the system i guess. any ideas here?
Hi Gerald,
Yes. That is my guess. Can you try and see if you can fetch the pre-registration PDF on https://apps.migracioncolombia.gov.co/pre-registro/public/preregistro.jsf by providing your details?
What do they mean by country of origin? origin of what? My Country of residence?
Yes, the country whose passport you hold.
Doesn’t make sense as the origin question is in first section re travel plans. Having looked on live most people take this to mean where did your journey begin. Personal details section asks for Nationality and residency which follows?
Great site! Two questions
Where do l enter my middle name as it’s in passport
Country of origin question- seems to relate to where your journey started as opposed to your birth country ?
Hi Atlan,
You can add the middle name to the segundo nombre or second name field.
The country of origin is your birth country.
Hi
Thanks for replying. It probably doesn’t matter but l called the authorities in Columbia. The Mig in part two asks for your nationality and place of birth
The origin question in part 1 relates to your journey. So if you flew from panama to Colombia via Germany then the origin is Germany. It’s a means of identifying where you have traveled from. Where your journey began.
Sorry should have said from Germany to Colombia via Panama
Thank you! That would have been my guess too. My journey starts in Greece and I’ll be traveling through Paris and Amsterdam.
Hi Deb, Thanks for the info. I live in Bulgaria and I have a family vacation coming up in Colombia. Unfortunately, it is not possible to open a check mig from Bulgaria. So a friend who lives in Germany will fill it in for me. My question is, if I don’t get a confirmation email, will she be able to download the pdf file and send it to me?
Hi Polina,
Yes, you will be able to download it from https://apps.migracioncolombia.gov.co/pre-registro/public/consultarpreregistro.jsf
All the best.
One more question – since my husband and I have been on boosters since January last year and the children are 11 and 14 years old, should we do a psr test
PCR test is not required for entering Colombia but please confirm with the Airline. It’s always the Airlines that seem to be the bad guys, probably a lot more than the immigration officers.
Hello, are psr necessary if we have booster vaccines from 1 year ago and the children are under 18
Not really Nik.
Thank you Deb, you are very kind
Hi there, after submitting my check mig I was able to download the pdf Confirmación de Pre-Registro Migratorio straight away, but never received any email.
Is the PDF enough or is there a final document with the email that we need?
The PDF is enough.
Hi there
I’m going on a cruise do i still need a check mig?
as they don’t say we need one.?
Hi Lorraine,
I am not so sure about the cruise thing. I believe you don’t.
Thanks Deb. I completed the form just now. Sure made me nervous. The contact info was great I used it to get the confirmation as no email as of yet. Was surprised by the Do you have more than one citizenship question. Had to put yes but it is UK so a nice country lol
Glad it worked out Ian.
Hey there I’m flying from Atlanta to Bogota to Medellín. My friends think immigration checkpoint is Medellín, I think it’s Bogota — what do you say?
If it is Bogota and I can’t convince them what will happen?
How long is your layover? It could be Medellin I believe, and you could put that in the form. In case they ask, you can reason. They will understand.
My layover is 1hr and 45 min. I filled out a form & put Bogota, do I need to redo it and put Medellín?
What happens if I get it wrong?
Well, from the stories that I have heard, you should be just fine I believe. Since you have already done it, let it be that way. They might ask a few questions and you could always reason that since your flight would land in Bogota first, that is your port of entry.
My flight is this sat April 8th. However, the month , day and year have a drop down for the flight date but it only has days 5, 6, 7.. Should I wait and try tomorrow or Friday? do the days change? My forst time travelling to Colombia and I am already super stressed about this. I would appreciate your advise.
Hi Ada,
Please try today. It should work. It displays the dates 3 days starting from the current date.
If landing in Bogoto and then changing to another plane to go to Bucaramanga what is my point of entry into Colombia where the Emigration check point will be?
Hi John,
It should be Bucaramanga in that case since that’s where you would be passing through the immigration I believe. If you do the immigration thing in Bogota, then it would be Bogota.
Hey there – thanks for the post! Very helpful.
I will like to visit Colombia for tourism purposes and needed some clarification.
I hold an Indian passport.
I have visited Colombia few times in the past and showed United States H1B visa stamp during entry at the Medellin airport’s immigration check and entry was smooth.
My H1B visa stamp is now expired, as I am in the final stages of my US green card process.
US Immigration services has provided me a green card based Employment Authorization Document (EAD) and Advance Parole (AP) card that is a valid temporary residence permit and allows me to freely exit and enter the US i.e. the green card based EAD+AP card is a valid card for 180+ days beyond my intended travel to Colombia, and I have used it to travel to India and reenter US .
In this document, I see that the requirement for Indian passport holder is to have a “US residence permit” OR a visa. https://www.cancilleria.gov.co/sites/default/files/FOTOS2020/5488%20del%2022%20de%20julio%20de%202022_0.pdf#page=5
It doesn’t say a US Permanent Residence permit. So, I am assuming that the EAD/AP combo card should be a valid temporary residence permit as that’s how USCIS treats it
My question: Can I travel to Colombia and show my green card application based EAD + AP card as the valid residence permit and be allowed to enter Colombia for tourism purposes? And hence not apply for Colombia visa. I am planning to travel in the next 4-5 days, and hence don’t have the needed time to apply for a consulate at the visa.
Hi,
Yes, you should be able to travel with the EAD/AP combo card, just like you would with a valid US visa.
Fantastic. Thanks!
Hi there, This information has been very helpful. When completing this form, it asks for the state/department but it’s not giving me the option to choose a city. What is your advise to move to the next page?
That’s strange. You should get the option when filling in the address. You could refresh and try again just in case.
Everything works up until the page for the payment, then everything freezes. Please help!
It is free. You don’t need to pay anything.
Hello
I had to pay 94 USD it would not let me proceed unless I paid this
Hi Sean,
It is completely free. I have done it multiple times. I believe you did it through some agency.
Link you provided is no good, please update.
Deb: Confused on the timing of the completion of the MIG. While I’m leaving on a Thursday night from the U.S. and will be visiting Colombia, I’m going to be disembarking in Panama City for 3 days before continuing on to Medellin Colombia on Monday. Therefore, it appears Thursday would be too soon to complete my MIG. Do I need to wait until I’m in Panama to complete the MIG given Thursday is outside of the 72 period?
Hi Armando,
Sorry about the late reply. Yes, ideally you would need to wait until you arrive in Panama to fill this out.
Hello Armando, My husband and I have a two leg flight to Bogota, Columbia this Friday 3/5/24. We depart from Denver, and fly to Panama City, (arriving the next morning) and have a 2 hour layover, and then our second flight to Bogota that morning – with a different flight number. (All on Copa airlines) Do I provide the flight number/date of the Denver flight to Panama City, or the Panama City flight to Bogota? We have US passports.
Hi Nancy,
You need to provide the flight number for the flight from Panama city to Bogota.
Happy travels,
Deb
This is so aggravating. I have never been able to complete the check-mig and always have to ask a friend to fill it out for me. Puesto de control migratorio=point of entry into CO, so in my case I enter Medellin, Jose Marte Airport, and then enter my flight number which I know is correct, and boom get a “no se encontro la escala, ingress otro numero de vuelo” and that’s it. What am I doing wrong, por favor?
Hi,
Are you providing just the flight number? Sometimes the page acts up.
Hello! I am traveling from US to Cali but there is a stop/layover in Panama. Which flight number and city do I provide? The one from United States or the one from Panama?
Hi Karina,
You can provide for the one from Panama to Cali.
